GMA Network takes pride in its boldest and grandest offering - the family drama series Legal Wives - that will not only explore the many facets of love but will also leave viewers in awe for its stunning production and engrossingly unique story premiering on July 26.
The revolutionary series features a casting coup top-billed by no less than Kapuso Drama King Dennis Trillo as Ismael Makadatu, an honorable man from a well-off Mranaw family who will equally love three women out of obligation, dedication, and compassion; Alice Dixson as Amirah Alonte, the virtuous and pious daughter of a sultan and Ismael's first wife; Andrea Torres as Diane San Luis, Isamel’s second wife who is a feisty modern Catholic woman who will go to great lengths to fight for herself and Ismael's love; Bianca Umali as Farrah Valeandong, a smart and innocent lady who becomes Ismael's third wife in hopes of saving her family's reputation.
Dennis, who considers this series as his primetime comeback, expresses his enthusiasm for what's in store for the Kapuso viewers, “Napakalaki ng project na ito para palampasin. Maganda ang latag ng kuwento, magagaling din ang lahat ng kasama ko na artista. Manghihinayang ako kung hindi ito napunta sa akin. Gusto kong ibahagi at iparating sa mga manonood na bukod sa makulay na kultura ng mga Mranaw, kagigiliwan nila ang bawat characters na siguradong kapupulutan nila ng aral.”
Alice, in turn, hopes that their series would bridge Filipinos and shed some light on the culture of Muslim people, “They're actually very loving, God-fearing people. They have the same goals and desires. They have strong family bonds. Magandang paraan itong TV show na ito para ipakita kung ano 'yung differences at kung ano din 'yung likenesses natin as Filipinos.”
Andrea, on the other hand, reveals how different and challenging her role is in the series and how she works her way into channeling her, “I think ang pinaka-challenge is to find that balance kasi there are so many layers to her character, napakadami niyang pagdadaanan dito. So binantayan po namin ni Direk Zig na you’ll always understand where she’s coming from and why she’s doing those things. Love is her weakness but that’s also where she’ll get strength to fight back.”
Meanwhile, Bianca shares her gratitude for landing the role of Farrah and looks forward to learning more as an actress through the show, “I am very honored na ako po ay pinagkatiwalaan na mapasama sa cast ng proyektong ito. Nakakakaba po ang makipagsabayan sa mga beteranong aktor but at the same time, natutuwa po ako na makatrabaho silang lahat.”
Making this series even grander is the stellar roster of cast headlined by internationally-acclaimed actress Ms. Cherie Gil as Zaina Guimba, Ismael's doting mother and Hasheeb's second wife who will serve as a guiding light to Ismael's three wives; Al Tantay as Hasheeb Makadatu, a respected Imam and Ismael's father who comes from a clan of sultan and datu in Marawi; Juan Rodrigo as Cesar San Luis, Diane’s father who forbids her marriage with Ismael; Irma Adlawan as Nuriya Baunto, Hasheeb's first wife and Nasser's mother who will hold a grudge against Ismael following the tragedy involving her son; Tommy Abuel as Asad Ampang Alonte, Amirah’s father who will do everything to uphold his daughter’s dignity; Maricar De Mesa as Zobaida Almahdi, Farrah's loving mother and Abdul Malik's wife; Bernard Palanca as Abdul Malik Valeandong, Farrah's protective father and Ismael's good friend.
The original series also features the special participation of Derrick Monasterio as Edgar Delos Reyos, a Christian who falls in love with Farrah; Alfred Vargas as Nasser Makadatu, Amirah's loyal husband and Ismael's protective brother who will meet an unfortunate end during a rido or clan feud; Mon Confiado as Mayor Usman Pabil, Marriam's wealthy father and the Mayor of Lanao Del Sur.
Legal Wives introduces two of the Network’s rising artists Shayne Sava as Jamilah Makadatu, Amirah's kind daughter and Ismael's niece and stepdaughter and Abdul Rahman as Hammad, an impoverished yet persevering boy who will pursue Jamilah.
Also part of the cast are Kevin Santos as Omar, Ismael's funny friend and assistant who is initially chosen to become Farrah’s husband; Ashley Ortega as Marriam Pabil, Farrah's cousin who fancies Ismael and is the reason behind the feud between their clans; Jay Arcilla as Vince Alvarez, Farrah's classmate and suitor who has ill intentions; Divine Aucina as Lizzie, Diane’s reliable friend in the clinic she works at; Raquel Pareno as Rose Aguila, Cesar’s other woman who pushes him to leave his wife and Diane; Melbelline Caluag as Ailyn Roxas, Farrah's witty friend and classmate; Chanel Latorre as Faizah, Ismael’s fearless and dependable cousin; Brent Valdez as Dale, Vince's friend and Farrah’s classmate.
Set in Lanao Del Sur, the story begins with a Mranaw man named Ismael (Dennis) from the affluent and noble family of Makadatu. Although a devout Muslim and a muezzin (sever of the mosque), Ismael falls for Diane (Andrea), a dentist who is part of the Catholic minority in their province, and whom he keeps from his family as she is considered a non-believer.
In a sudden turn of events, Ismael gets entangled in a clan feud which leads to his marriage with his brother's widow, Amirah (Alice). Ismael follows the disheartened Diane in Manila and tries to woo her unbeknownst to his parents. Just when the two are starting to build a happy marriage, Ismael is met with another conflict. Upon his return to their province, his friend - who he is greatly indebted to - seeks his help in saving their family's reputation by marrying Farrah (Bianca), her daughter who is involved in a scandal.
How will Ismael's three wives deal with each other’s socio-cultural differences along with the idea of them sharing one husband? Is the idea of a man loving more than just one woman, equally and all at the same time, really possible?
Legal Wives is under the supervision of the GMA Entertainment Group headed by SVP for Entertainment Group Lilybeth G. Rasonable, FVP for Drama Redgie A. Magno, SAVP for Drama Cheryl Ching-Sy, Senior Program Manager Helen Rose S. Sese, and Executive Producer Shielyn Atienza.
The series is a product of the visionary minds of GMA's award-winning and highly talented creative team - Creative Director Aloy Adlawan; Creative Consultant Des Galvez Severino; Creative Head Rj Nuevas; Head Writer and original concept by Suzette Doctolero; writers Jaymee Katanyag, Marlon Miguel, and Brylle Tabora; and brainstormer Koko Joven.

“I also personally make it a point that our set is always a happy one, especially since we are telling a story that’s inspirational. If even our own working environment is toxic, then we won’t be as effective. Everyone is healthy and well-rested. We don’t go beyond our working hours," share niini.
“I keep growing as an actor in a lot of ways while on this particular set. This is because I get to be with different actors, who are all very talented, helpful and giving,” sulti niini ug niingon nga garbo sab kaniya nga siya ang napiling magdala sa papel nga manghod ni Maja Salvador isip Niña.

At the end of the day ang nararamdaman na your doing something great at kakaiba talaga," sulti niini.

Playing equally important roles are John Feir as Patrick, Ronnie Henares as Tommy, Mosang as Baby, Janna Dominguez as Maria, Arthur Solinap as Robert, Jessa Zaragoza as Deedee, and Nova Villa as Mimi. Making the lives of the Manalotos more interesting are Chariz Solomon, Mikoy Morales, Tony Lopena, Cherry Malvar, Maureen Larrazabal, Jen Rosendahl.
As the season draws to an end this Saturday, Michael V. shares the greatest value that the show wishes for the viewers to reflect on, "Ang core talaga ng Pepito Manaloto, 'yung personality niya at ng pamilya niya, hindi nagbago. Kumbaga pusong mahirap pa rin sila. Marunong silang mag-value ng mga tao at bagay and at the same time, alam nila 'yung meaning ng totoong pamilya. More often than not, nababanggit ng show 'yan as a reminder na hindi talaga 'yung materyal na bagay ang importante - lahat 'yan mawawala. Pero 'yung pananalig mo sa Diyos, 'yung pagmamahal mo sa pamilya at mga kaibigan mo, 'yun ang hindi ka talaga iiwan."
Manilyn, in turn, sends her sincerest gratitude to all the viewers for sticking around with them through it all, "Kahit na ganoon ang nangyari at alam naman natin na mahirap ang taping nitong nagdaang taon, happy pa rin kami na ang mga tao hindi sila bumibitaw simula noon hanggang ngayon. Nandiyan pa rin sila. Masaya kami na nakakapagbigay pa rin po kami ng entertainment at happiness sa kanila sa panahong ito."
In its season finale, while Elsa (Manilyn), who has been invited as a feature baker at the Central Luzon Food Trade Expo in Pampanga, and Pepito (Michael V.), who has been invited by the Philippine Embassy in Korea to speak at a business conference, both prepare for their respective events - the whole household is encountering a problem.
The TV crew who has been following them around is getting in their way. Even after almost a decade of sharing their lives with the viewing public, this time with the pandemic, it feels like their world has gotten more crowded.
When the producer of the TV reality show about their lives talks to Pepito, he wants to make plans for their new season. Will Pepito decide to move forward or move on?
Don’t miss the season finale of “Pepito Manaloto: Kuwento, Kuwento" – under the helm of esteemed director Bert de Leon - this Saturday, 6:15 pm, on GMA-7.

GMA Network's top-rating
family drama series 'Love of My Life' is set to capture the hearts of
more viewers as it debuts on Netflix Philippines beginning May 28.
Following its successful run on GMA since its premiere in February 2020, avid fans and viewers of the well-loved series requested that the program to be made available on the popular video streaming platform.
Love of My Life joins the growing list of Kapuso shows on Netflix Philippines including the internationally-acclaimed primetime series ‘Descendants of the Sun Philippines’ and the groundbreaking program 'I Can See You' - further solidifying the Network's online presence and mission of bringing world-class GMA content to more Filipinos.
The original series is top-billed by one of the industry's highly-acclaimed actresses Ms. Coney Reyes as Isabella Gonzales; multitalented actress-model Rhian Ramos as Kelly Generoso; and award-winning actress Carla Abellana as Adelle Nisperos. Joining them are dramatic actor-model Mikael Daez as Nikolai Gonzales and, in a very special role, versatile actor Tom Rodriguez as Stefano Gonzales.
Love of My Life dwells on the atypical relationship of the Gonzales family. Isabella (Coney), the matriarch, is a rich widow with high standards who would stop at nothing to get what’s best for her sons - Nikolai (Mikael), the youngest son who has grown into a rebellious man, and Stefano (Tom), the favorite son who also happens to father the child of his former lover, Kelly (Rhian).
Amidst his mother’s objection, Stefano pursues Adelle (Carla), a widow with a child who manages her own handicraft business. Their seemingly perfect life crumbles not only when Kelly barges into the picture along with the estranged Nikolai, but also when Stefano gets diagnosed with a terminal illness.
An original creation of the GMA Entertainment Group, Love of my Life is under the supervision of the Production team headed by SVP for Entertainment Group Lilybeth G. Rasonable, FVP for Drama Redgie A. Magno, SAVP for Drama Cheryl Ching-Sy, and Senior Program Manager Cathy Ochoa-Perez.
The series is a product of the visionary minds of Creative Director Aloy Adlawan; Creative Head Suzette Doctolero; Creative Consultant Agnes Gagelonia-Uligan; Head Writer Ronalean Sales; Writer Ana Aleta Nadela; Brainstormers Nehem Dallego, Dang Sulit-Mariano, and Gilda Olvidado Marcelino; and Executive Producer Michele Borja.
Catch the heart-tugging story of 'Love of My Life’ - directed by Don Michael Perez - beginning May 28 on Netflix Philippines.
#TeamGoodBoy encourages the Filipino youth to innovate and come up with solutions that help address the nation’s problems. Kim Seon-ho, K-Drama star and Globe’s latest ambassador invites students, young professionals, and entrepreneurs to join the country’s first and biggest 5G Hackathon by Globe and De La Salle University’s Animo Labs.
“Join this year’s Globe 5G Hackathon so you can work on developing the uses of 5G in different sectors of the Philippine economy and society, through a series of workshops and mentorship,” Seon-ho said.
Categories will focus on the following innovations:
5G for Society - Education, Health Care, and Livelihood
To improve patient health monitoring and provide remote consultations, address mixed learning gaps and opportunities, and enhance ways of working for Filipinos’ current livelihood such as farming, fisheries, and the like.
5G for Industries – Retail, Manufacturing, Logistics, E-Commerce

“Instead of looking for answers, make choices,” this is one of Ji-pyeong’s famous lines from the drama that matches his encouragement for the youth to be part of the 5G Hackathon and to start turning their ideas and dreams into reality. Seon-ho recently won the hearts of many and gave almost everyone the ‘second lead syndrome’ when he starred as Han Ji-pyeong in the recent K-drama Start-up that features young entrepreneurs who held onto their dreams and made it to Korea’s high-tech industry.
Winning teams may get as much as P500,000 at the end of the competition and will have the chance to be part of Globe’s 917Ventures’ Velocity venture builders program, and work directly with Globe 5G Acceleration Lab. After a series of workshops, idea submission, mentorship and pitching competition, the top 10 finalists will move on to develop their prototypes using Globe's 5G platforms. Top teams will get to enjoy a total of half a million in cash prizes, a chance to develop their own business ventures backed by 917Ventures, Globe’s corporate venture builder, and further develop their product with Globe acceleration lab.
Globe 5G Hackathon will run for three months starting May 2021 and will include interactive learning sessions with technology industry leaders Novare Technologies, Intel, AWS, 917 Ventures, Huawei, Hewlett Packard Enterprise, Tech Mahindra, Alibaba Cloud, Google Cloud, Microsoft, and Cascadeo.
The 5G Hackathon is part of the telco’s efforts to create a #FirstWorldNetwork in the country through a massive network upgrade and expansion program that includes the rigorous deployment of 5G sites to more areas nationwide, laying down at least one million Fiber-to-the-Home, and the rollout of more 4G LTE infrastructure.

Lagi nating piliing mabuting tao at magdasal," sulti niini.

GMA Regional TV remains committed to providing unparalleled community service to Filipinos in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao via its Kapuso Barangayan on Wheels, which to date, has benefitted 11,850 families.
The Kapuso Barangayan on Wheels was launched in May 2020 as a mobile version of GMA RTV’s Kapuso Barangayan, which was originally a community activity held in different barangays across the regions. With the community quarantine, GMA RTV introduced 'Kapuso Barangayan on Wheels' to reach more communities and directly provide residents the assistance they urgently need. The areas covered include North Central Luzon, South Luzon, Central and Eastern Visayas, Western Visayas, Northern Mindanao, and Southern Mindanao.
“It has been almost a year since we transformed our Kapuso Barangayan into a mobile activity to benefit our fellow Filipinos during this pandemic,” said GMA Regional TV and Synergy First Vice President and Head Oliver Victor Amoroso. “No one has been spared and many families are still struggling to cope—most especially our Kapuso in the regions who have lost their sources of income during the pandemic. Nananatiling kasama po ninyo ang GMA Regional TV. We thank our partners in the local government and private sectors for joining us in this regional initiative. We are now on our fourth leg and we will continue to work hand in hand with the government and private sectors as we face these difficult times because of the COVID pandemic,” he added.
Just recently, the Kapuso Barangayan on Wheels won an Excellence Award in Communication Management under the Corporate Social Responsibility Division 1 category at the 18th Philippine Quill Awards. The Philippine Quill is considered one of the country’s most prestigious awards programs in the field of business communications. It also received a Special Citation merit at the 42nd Catholic Mass Media Awards in the Best TV Ad-Public Service category.
GMA RTV has already rolled out three legs of the said regional initiative. The first wave was held from May to August in 2020 with a total of 2,610 family beneficiaries. This was followed by the second Kapuso Barangayan on Wheels which saw 4,200 families gaining assistance from August to December. From December 2020 to March 2021, a total of 5,040 families were served by Kapuso Barangayan on Wheels. The fourth leg is set to be conducted this April.
In North Central Luzon, 2,120 families benefited from the Kapuso Barangayan on Wheels during the first three legs that were rolled out. One of the recipients is Sonia Delfin, a sidewalk buko vendor who was affected by community quarantine caused by the COVID-19 Pandemic. She is grateful that GMA RTV reached her barangay.
Meanwhile, during its first Kapuso Barangayan on Wheels in the Bicol region, GMA RTV has already reached 840 families. In Barangay Pipian in San Fernando, Camarines Sur, the team met 26-year-old Cyril Flores. The wife of a farmer and mother of three kids said that the Kapuso Barangayan on Wheels was very timely for they are having a hard time trying to make ends meet during this pandemic.
In Central Eastern Visayas, a total of 2,450 families were assisted. One of them is 65-year-old Juanito Perez of Brgy. Inayawan in Cebu City. Perez has been providing for his family as a waste picker at the Inayawan dumpsite. Another recipient is Gloria Jumalon of Brgy. Ibo in Lapu-Lapu City. The 72-year-old woman lives in a small house while taking care of her 22-year-old grandchild with Down syndrome and cerebral palsy.
On the other hand, GMA RTV was able to assist 2,620 families in Western Visayas during the three legs of Kapuso Barangayan on Wheels. Here the team met 28-year-old Ronald Hollera and 65-year-old Nelly Piagola. Hollera, who hails from Brgy. Trapiche in Oton, Iloilo, has been paralyzed after being hit by a motorcycle last 2015. Nanay Nelly, on the other hand, is from Brgy. Bito-on in Jaro, Iloilo City. She is taking care of her 16-year-old granddaughter who was diagnosed with bone cancer.
In Northern Mindanao, a total of 1,680 families were the recipients of food packs and grocery items. One of them is the family of 49-year-old Castor Aranjuez of Barangay Canitoan, Cagayan De Oro City. Aranjuez, despite being an amputee, continues to practice his craft of welding metal to produce plant stands, dog cages, and the likes—his way to make ends meet and sustain his family.
In Southern Mindanao, GMA RTV was able to serve 2,140 families, including Merlita Lausa of Brgy. Kinawitnon, Island Garden City of Samal. The 51-year-old widow has been supporting her five children by offering laundry and mowing services.
On top of distributing essential items to thousands of families across the country, GMA RTV led various brief and relevant lectures on proper health and safety protocols. To further instill hope in the hearts of the beneficiaries, each pack of Kapuso Barangayan on Wheels items included notes with messages of encouragement from the anchors and hosts of GMA RTV’s newscasts and morning programs.
SHEDDING light on the struggles of Filipinos in the education sector, GMA Public Affairs' “The Atom Araullo Specials: Batch 2020” was named Outstanding Video Feature Story on Youth and Education at the 16th Lasallian Scholarum Awards. The virtual awarding ceremony was held last March 26.
"Batch 2020" featured four stories of students, teachers, and members of the education sector who were forced to adjust to meet the demands of studying under the new normal due to the pandemic. These stories included a grade 7 student who collects and sells crabs to save money for his online schooling; a teacher juggling her responsibilities as a mother of three and as an educator; an overseas Filipino worker working as a tutor; and residents of the municipality of General Nakar, Quezon--considered as the most secluded place in the Philippines that does not have electricity for online classes.
Various GMA entries were also shortlisted in the same category.
One of these was 'iJuander's' Edukasyon episode, which also showed the struggles of Filipinos in this pandemic. The news magazine show is hosted by Susan Enriquez and Mark Salazar.
Select episodes of GMA News' #BetterNormalPH were also recognized as finalists. These were "Project WIFI: Ayudang free WIFI para sa estudyanteng Pilipino"; "National Teacher's month hindi ramdam ng mga guro ngayong new normal"; "Bayanihan para sa online class shed"; "Online classes ng mga anak, naka-enroll nga rin ba ang mga magulang?"; "Edukasyon sa 'New Normal"; and "Paano hihikayatin ang mga kabataang magbasa ngayong quarantine?" Hosted by veteran journalist Malou Mangahas, #BetterNormalPH explores how Filipinos are adjusting to the new normal brought by the pandemic.
Also making it to the list was the episode of the weekly online series 'RTx' entitled "Magkakapatid, naghihiraman sa isang cellphone makapag-aral lang sa online class!"
Meanwhile, GMA News Online's "Here's how schools can move forward amid COVID-19 threat, expert says" written by Kaela Malig, was also shortlisted under the Outstanding Online Feature Category.
De La Salle University’s Lasallian Scholarum Awards celebrates the outstanding professional and student media coverage of youth and education stories. The ceremony’s theme focused on “Adapt-ed: Youth and Education in the Time of Pandemic,” which highlighted the resilience of the country’s youth and education sectors in the face of the unprecedented challenges brought by COVID-19.
Premiered last Monday, April 5, Sing-Galing has since been upgraded with its new features, extra challenges, and hilarious antics.
With the help and expertise of Sing Masters Randy Santiago, Donita Nose, and K Brosas, as the show’s hosts, and Juke Bosses Rey Valera, Ronnie Liang, and Jessa Zaragoza as the jury, both the contenders and Ka-Awit-Bahay are up for weeknight harmonies with their family and loved ones.
On what viewers can look forward to, Ronnie Liang said, “Dito sa Sing Galing mai-expect nating mga ka-awitbahay of course ‘yung labanan ng mga pagalingan sa pagvi-videoke. Masusubok pa lalo kung sino talaga ‘yung master when it comes to doing the videoke thing. Kaming mga Jukebosses naman, makikita nila kung gaano kami kagaling mag-analyze ng mga performances nila sa pagvi-Videoke.”
First aired in the late ‘90s, Sing-Galing—which is a multi-awarded Videoke Game show, and the first of its kind in the Philippines and Asia—gives equal opportunity for everyone to earn by simply singing. Participants don’t need to be experts and professionals in the art; they only need guts and fun to compete at a karaoke format.
More than anything, this is TV5’s way of providing relief during a time of uncertainty. Sing Galing! not only brings the karaoke bar or party experience closer to home, but it also creates an avenue for families and communities to bond and come together in song.
Tune in at 6:30PM everyday on TV5, for an entertaining, light, and enjoyable bonding experience
