Many have tried to beat Eat Bulaga, the longest-running number 1 noontime TV program in the Philippines. And if I'm not mistaken, in the whole world. Being the number 1 noontime program, it is only logical that Eat Bulaga is shown on GMA-7 the number 1 TV station in the Philippines. We never had any problems with our negotiations with TAPE Inc. Madalas ang nangyayari naglu-lunch lang kami pagkatapos noon, tapos na rin ang aming negotiations. Ganyan po katatag ang samahan ng Eat Bulaga at ng GMA. 27 years na ang Eat Bulaga sa GMA and this signing will cement our relationship further. Thank you so much to TAPE Inc. family for giving us this opportunity to have Eat Bulaga again in GMA Network."

"Gusto ko lang sabihin na kung may forever, mukhang ito na iyon," says Atty. Gozon-Valdes about the partnership between Eat Bulaga and the Kapuso Network. "Thank you Eat Bulaga for the trust."

As for Mr. Tuviera, he thanks GMA for being the answer to their prayer, "Sa panahong ito, naging sentro ng ating buhay ang ating mga tahanan. Sa GMA, higit pa sa bahay ang ibinigay ninyo sa amin. You gave us a reason to continue our vision on television. Thank you for being our answered prayer every day. Legit Kapuso since 1995. Maraming salamat po sa inyo."

Meanwhile, Abacan claims that dealing with Eat Bulaga has always been a walk in the park, “Napakagaan nilang ka-partner. In the last 27 years, I am one of the blessed people who witnessed how Eat Bulaga transferred to GMA. Until now, napakasaya pa rin kasama ng Eat Bulaga. At nadagdagan pa ang barkadahan, mabawasan man, nandiyan pa rin yung spirit ng samahan. I’m very happy.”

The iconic Eat Bulaga hosts Tito, Vic, and Joey have been with GMA-7 for 27 years, but Senator Tito Sotto believes Eat Bulaga wouldn't be able to reach its 42nd and 43rd year if not for GMA-7, "Maraming salamat sa inyo. Tumulong kayo sa amin at nakatulong kayo sa amin upang through the years Eat Bulaga transformed into public service masquerading as entertainment show. Thank you and mabuhay kayo, GMA-7."

“Sa tingin ko kaya hanggang ngayon ay tinatangkilik pa rin ang Eat Bulaga ay dahil madali siyang panoorin. Kahit nasa bahay ka kaya mong mag-multitask habang nage-enjoy, nakikitawa at minsan nakikiiyak sa show. Madaling panoorin pero may dating sa puso. Kaya nga rin tayo’y Kapuso dahil ‘yun ang pinaka importanteng ingredient sa ating buhay – puso,” says Vic Sotto when asked about the secret to the show’s longevity.

Joey De Leon, on the other hand, playfully claims how the universe seem to conspire Eat Bulaga to remain in GMA for eternity, “Hindi pa seven ang GMA, seven na kami. Mula Student Canteen, nag-Discorama, hanggang sa nabuo kaming Tito, Vic, and Joey. Palagay ko kung may mother of all, Eat Bulaga na 'yun. Ngayon, at 27 years sa GMA-7, seven presidents na rin ang dinaanan ng Eat Bulaga at tumatakbo tayo sa ating ika-43rd year. Add mo ‘yun 4 plus 3 equals 7. Kaya hindi lang forever kundi 7-ever na ‘to."

GTV now the second most-watched channel in PH

23 Dec, 2021, No comments

GMA Network’s second free-to-air channel, GTV is now the second most-watched channel in the country.

Based on November to December 11, 2021 data from Nielsen Phils., GTV recorded a total day people audience share of 11.3 percent in Total Philippines.

GTV’s closest competitors TV5 and A2Z only registered 10.5 percent and 4.1 percent people audience shares, respectively.

The Kapuso Network’s main free-to-air channel, GMA, meanwhile, remains strong in the top spot with a dominant 41.5 percent people audience share.

Aside from continuously improving its content, GTV’s ratings success was also a result of the Network’s on-going efforts to expand GTV’s reach and clarity of reception in areas outside of Mega Manila.

Following GTV’s launch in February, the Network has already commissioned six analog TV station upgrades in different parts of the country – Tandang Sora in Manila, Mt. Sto. Tomas in Benguet, Mt. Banoy in Batangas, Naga in Camarines Sur, Legazpi in Albay, and just recently, General Santos City in Mindanao.

Viewers can also expect that more areas will be added to this growing list of upgrades by 2022 as GMA further strengthens its digital terrestrial television (DTT) roll-out through transmitter upgrades.

GTV’s programming line-up consists of world-class news and public affairs as well as entertainment shows, which cater to both the young and young-at-heart.

Catch news programs “Dobol B TV,” “Regional TV News,” “Balitanghali," “Dapat Alam Mo!,” “Good News Kasama si Vicky Morales,” “State of the Nation (SONA),” along with the simulcast of “24 Oras,” “24 Oras Weekend,” and “Saksi.”

Meanwhile, well-loved public affairs and lifestyle shows include “Farm to Table,” “I Juander,” “Pinoy A+,” “Brigada,” “Reporter’s Notebook,” “Tunay na Buhay,” “Stories of Hope,” “On Record,” “Taste Buddies,” and “Pinas Sarap.”

GTV also offers a variety of foreign dramas as well as local and Hollywood films on movie blocks Siesta Fiesta Movies, Afternoon Movie Break, and G! Flicks.

Sports fans should watch out for the next season of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) on GTV.

Viewers can watch GTV via the following analog TV channels in their respective areas: Channel 26 in General Santos, Channel 22 in Northern and Central Luzon, Channel 26 in Southern Tagalog, Channel 28 in Camarines Sur, Channel 27 in Albay, and Channel 27 in Mega Manila or on digital broadcast via GMA Affordabox and GMA Now as well as on other digital TV receivers.

20 Dec, 2021, No comments

The winning streak of GMA Network continues as the leading broadcast company emerged as the Station of the Year at the annual RAWR Awards organized by LionhearTV.

At the virtual awarding ceremonies held last December 16, the Kapuso Network was recognized for its “outstanding branding, quality of output, good public relations, and providing 'Serbisyong Totoo' to its viewers.”

Further proving its credibility in producing top-notch news and entertainment for the viewers, GMA’s shows and its personalities were likewise honored by LionhearTV’s  community of entertainment bloggers and fans.

Blockbuster drama series The World Between Us was hailed as this year’s “Bet na Bet na Teleserye.” Starring Asia’s Multimedia Star Alden Richards, Jasmine Curtis-Smith, and Tom Rodriguez, the series puts its viewers on the edge of their seats every night as the plot thickens between Louie, Lia, and Brian in its season return.

Kapuso Drama King Dennis Trillo triumphed as “Actor of the Year” for his role as Ismael in the recently concluded top-rating family drama series “Legal Wives.” In the ground-breaking primetime soap, the multitalented actor delivered another excellent performance as a Mranaw man who married three different women for various reasons.

Atom Araullo, on the other hand, won as “Male News Personality of the Year.” Araullo co-anchors GTV’s flagship newscast State of the Nation and the award-winning documentary program “The Atom Araullo Specials.” He is also one of the hosts of pioneering documentary program “I-Witness.”

The “Pak na Pak na Comedian Award” was given to Phenomenal Star Maine Mendoza who is one of the lead stars of the well-loved comedy sitcom Daddy’s Gurl.

Meanwhile, showbiz newcomers Donn Boco and Jericho Arceo bagged the “Beshie ng Taon Award.” They play the roles of Pitoy (Donn) and Edison (Jericho), the trustworthy and kind best friends of Louie in The World Between Us.

The winners were decided via equal combination of total votes from fans-and-readers, blogging community and industry leaders, and third-party analytics.

At the same time, fast-rising Kapuso stars Cassy Legaspi and Joaquin Domagoso were also recognized at the 69th Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences (FAMAS) Awards, which was held virtually last December 12.

The two GMAAC stars added a new milestone in their careers after bagging the ‘German Moreno Youth Achievement Award.’

These are on top of the various public service announcement plugs that regularly air on all its channels.

Further, with stations strategically located in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, GMA Network through its regional arm, GMA RTV, further brings Serbisyong Totoo outside Metro Manila via its flagship newscasts and morning shows, namely GMA RTV Balitang Amianan and Mornings with GMA Regional TV in North Central Luzon; GMA RTV Balitang Bicolandia in South Luzon; GMA RTV Balitang Bisdak and GMA Regional TV Live! in Central and Eastern Visayas; GMA RTV One Western Visayas and GMA Regional TV Early Edition in Western Visayas; and GMA RTV One Mindanao and At Home with GMA Regional TV in North, South Central, Western, and Southern Mindanao.

Additionally, GMA’s broadcast of DepEd TV in its digital channel is part of the Kapuso Network's efforts to help the government curb the spread of COVID-19 in the country, and, at the same time, provide Filipino students access to quality education while keeping them safe at home. Various public service programs and announcements are also aired on its digital channels Heart of Asia, Hallypop, and I Heart Movies.

Further showing how GMA takes to heart the welfare of the Kapuso viewers wherever they may be in the country, its digital TV receiver GMA Affordabox has an Emergency Warning Broadcast System (EWBS) feature that sends NDRRMC alerts on any disaster or calamity warnings in their area.

Serbisyong Totoo on-ground

Just as the pandemic sees no borders, GMA Network’s Serbisyong Totoo also transcends beyond the airwaves. The Kapuso Network continuously innovates to reach more Filipinos amidst the challenges of living in the new normal.

The Network tirelessly extends assistance to underserved communities and Filipinos in need of immediate aid through its socio-civic arm GMA Kapuso Foundation (GMAKF). The Kapuso Foundation has always been quick to respond during typhoons, volcanic eruptions, earthquakes, and the COVID-19 relief effort through its Operation Bayanihan disaster relief program which has helped 268,447 beneficiaries.

Under GMAKF’s Operation Bayanihan is the Labanan Natin Ang COVID-19 campaign which included the distribution of PPEs to 131 public hospitals to protect our frontliners. The Foundation has also distributed fully loaded Kapuso grocery packs to over 4,784 families in locked down communities during the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) period.

Equally giving importance to long-term aid for disaster recovery, GMAKF continuously built schools, bridges and houses to help rebuild communities. To date, 852 sturdy houses have been constructed in various Kapuso Villages nationwide. 504 classrooms were built under the Kapuso School Development Project. And a total of 6 steel and concrete bridges have now been completed in the Kapuso Tulay Para sa Kaunlaran project.

GMAKF also implemented its Kapuso ng Kalikasan project in the same disaster afflicted areas where they engaged the communities to plant trees to create environmental awareness, prevent landslides and combat soil erosion.

Giving importance to the youth are GMAKF’s annual Unang Hakbang sa Kinabukasan project where school bags with complete sets of school supplies with anti-COVID kits were distributed to 70,000 public elementary school students including indigenous children from the top 25 poorest provinces across the country.

A total of 65,020 beneficiaries were served by GMAKF’s Values Formation program which included Give-A-Gift: Alay Sa Batang Pinoy project, Kapuso Cancer Champions project, and Sagip Dugtong Buhay bloodletting project.

GMAKF’s Disaster Relief, Education, Health, and Values Formation program activities are regularly being aired on 24 Oras’ Kapusong Totoo segment to inspire Filipinos to help through their donations.

Meanwhile, on the regional front, GMA RTV launched its “Kapuso Barangayan on Wheels” at the height of the nationwide community quarantines implemented last year.

“Kapuso Barangayan on Wheels” aims to reach more communities and to directly provide families with assistance they urgently need. The project was rolled out in North Central Luzon, South Luzon, Central and Eastern Visayas, Western Visayas, Northern Mindanao, and Southern Mindanao and is currently on its fourth wave.

From May 2020 to October 2021, the Kapuso Barangayan on Wheels has already reached 16,650 families with more than 2,400 families expected to benefit in the coming weeks as the RTV concludes its fourth wave.

Serbisyong Totoo online

GMA’s commitment to public service extends online.

GMA News’ digital platforms feature up-to-the-minute breaking news on the latest developments in the Philippines. The Network’s newscasts are made available to Filipinos all over the globe via live stream on its official YouTube channels and Facebook pages. And just recently, 24 Oras became the first Philippine newscast to livestream locally on TikTok. Condensed versions of 24 Oras and other newscasts are made available on YouTube for local and international audiences.

It also continues to produce the pioneering mobile newscast Stand for Truth and provide immediate advice and assistance to netizens via the online public service program Sumbungan Ng Bayan Libreng Payo Online.

Original programs are also available for online viewers, including GMA News Feed, GMA’s snackable and mobile-friendly news updates series; explanatory journalism series Need to Know; The Mangahas Interviews, an agenda-setting talk show hosted by veteran investigative journalist Malou Mangahas; The Howie Severino Podcast; and the newly launched Spotify Original podcast Sounds and Stories of The Philippines.

GMA Network also produced various online campaigns to contribute to the government’s nationwide COVID-19 information drive and vaccination program — “Labanan Natin ang COVID-19” plug series in coordination with GMAKF, “May Puso ang Pag-asa,” “PaGMAmahal Para sa Frontliners,” “Health Protocol, Sana All,” GMA News and Public Affairs’ “#JabWellDone” and “PPE: Pinoy Pandemic Essentials,” “IMReady - COVID-19 plug series”, and GMA Artist Center’s “#FlexMoNa.”

In addition, GMA Pinoy TV’s #StrongerTogether and "One in Heart with Pinoys abroad vs. COVID-19” campaigns included various initiatives such as Tribute to Frontliners, Memorials to Fallen Frontliners, Pandemic Diaries, Lockdown Chika, Stories from the Frontlines, Quaran-sane, DM (Distansya Muna) is the Key, Stories of Survival, Stronger Together with Filipino Frontliners Abroad, Pockets of Hope, and Stronger Together Podcast.

For the past seven decades, Kapuso here and abroad have put the trust in GMA Network as their constant companion through triumphs and adversities. GMA, in turn, stays true to its core — putting heart in everything it does and innovating ways to further provide Serbisyong Totoo to the public, especially to those who need it the most.

And as the holiday season nears, GMA encourages Filipinos to remain loving to one another in order to help spark hope into everyone’s hearts through its Christmas station ID “Love Together, Hope Together”.

As the story concludes this Saturday, Tracy will discover one by one the secrets kept by her loved ones. Who would have thought that the father she had never met is just looking after her from afar and that her supposed “Daddy”, Coco, turns out to be also longing for love? Will she be forced to choose between her two "fathers"? Or will forgiveness and understanding prevail?

Born to be Wild turns 14, airs first part of “Breaking Territories” special on Nov. 21

19 Nov, 2021, No comments

Born to be Wild—the country’s pioneering wildlife, travel and conservation program —celebrates its 14th anniversary this month in a two-part special “Breaking Territories” airing this November 21 and 28.

Most wildlife species in the animal kingdom are known to be territorial—they protect their territories from incursions by other species. Territorial boundaries may be marked by sounds such as a bird song or scents secreted by the skin glands of mammals. But when territories are invaded, conflicts may arise.

For years, the team of Born to be Wild has documented violent encounters when animal spaces are encroached by humans and vice versa. But can humans really co-exist with wildlife?

GMA Network’s formidable wildlife vets are back to visiting the wildest places to film the most amazing animal behaviors. Doc Ferds Recio goes to Palawan and Doc Nielsen Donato to Tawi-Tawi for another nature expedition.

Doc Ferds tells how excited he is for the anniversary shoot and that he missed preparing clothes for travel, “It is our first expedition after almost two years because of the pandemic. We’re here [in Palawan] for an extended period of time doing how we used to do it, how we used to shoot Born,” he shares.

For Doc Nielsen, shooting for Born to be Wild has always been a refreshing experience. “I have looked forward to this work-travel-leisure-shoot. Since the pandemic, we weren’t able to shoot outside Luzon and being able to board a plane again is really exciting.”

Both vets are ready to face the wildlife again in their natural habitat. But in some places, animals live near humans too. In Aborlan, Palawan, residents not only wake up to the humming of birds in the morning but also to playing squirrels and flying lizards that freely wander in trees of nearby houses. Doc Ferds observes how both humans and animals co-exist where no one is harmed as they respectfully acknowledge each other's territory. But what he is also thrilled about is the team’s attempt to film the Asian Small Clawed Otter or Dungon that live near a fishpond of a local resident.

“We made several attempts to film the Dungon in the past, but we failed. They are elusive. But a resident in Palawan confirmed that these animals regularly visit his fishpond. So, we tried our luck again,” Doc Ferds reveals.

Meanwhile, Doc Nielsen has rescued and handled a number of crocodiles in captivity.  But he says nothing beats seeing a crocodile in its natural habitat. In Tawi-Tawi, where some residents live in stilts, crocodiles are an everyday sight. But not all sightings are pleasant, some have been fatal. Doc Nielsen meets some family members of people who have been attacked by crocodiles. Some have miraculously survived, unfortunately, some have died. But despite this, most residents still recognize the importance of crocodiles and they respect their existence.

“Usually, when humans break boundaries from wildlife, it's destruction. mining, logging, claiming of the forest, putting structures by the seas but that's not all the time. Sometimes people break boundaries to discover, to understand the behavior and the situation of wildlife—in the case of scientists,” Doc Nielsen explains.

Doc Ferds shares that while there are sad stories on human-animal encounters, there is still good news to tell, “We acknowledge, that sometimes there are really conflicts when humans and animals share the same space, but it is laudable to see that in many areas, people do not treat animals as threat or competition, people respect wildlife presence, they have learned to accept that they can share one territory.”

Catch the two-part 14th anniversary special of Born to be Wild, “Breaking Territories,” airing this November 21 and 28, 9 a.m. on GMA Network. Kapuso abroad can catch it via GMA Pinoy TV.

Rodjun Cruz remains loyal to GMA-7

9 Nov, 2021, No comments

Multitalented Kapuso actor, performer, and businessman Rodjun Cruz is filled with gratitude as he renewed his contract with GMA Artist Center yesterday, November 4.

Being part of the GMAAC family for 8 years, Rodjun shares the reason why he stays loyal to his home network, "I'm very thankful and grateful to GMA for the opportunity and for always putting their trust in me. Nandito pa rin ako kasi mas lalo ko na-showcase ‘yung talents ko and mas madami akong natutunan sa kanila. Kasi sila yung nagbibigay sa akin ng iba't-ibang roles na dito ko lang din ginawa sa GMA. Mas lumalakas ‘yung loob ko, mas nahahasa ako as an actor, at the same time, nakakapag-perform ako kasi love ko rin talaga ang mag-perform."

As he celebrates the renewal of his contract, Rodjun looks back at all his proud Kapuso moments. "Nung nagstart ako sa Kapuso Network, first time ko magtrending ng ganoon sa My Husband's Lover. Noong nag-guest ako doon, grabe ang daming nag-message [sakin]. Pinag-usapan talaga siya. 'Yun yung una dahil first time ko talaga ma-experience 'yun sa buhay ko kahit saan magpunta pinag-uusapan talaga. Tapos, dream ko rin kasi magkaroon ng action na palabas so first time ko rin naranasan 'yun na may power pa, noong ginawa ko ‘yung role as Paopao sa Encantadia. And siyempre, ‘yung Legally Blind. Nakaka-proud din ‘yung moments na magkasama kami ni Rayver sa isang stage at nagpe-perform."

Aside from his guestings in the weekend variety show ‘All-Out Sundays,’ Rodjun is gearing up for his lead role in the upcoming GMA series ‘Little Princess,’ with Jo Berry and Juancho Trivino. He considers this project a birthday gift from God.

Earlier this year, Rodjun took his fitness advocacy to the next level and launched his very own sports apparel - Cruzfit.
