Cops probe grenade-throwing at house of Cagayan de Oro solon

By Alwen SaliringINVESTIGATORS are looking into the grenade-throwing incident at the house of Cagayan de Oro 2nd District Representative Rufus Rodriguez in 12-30 streets, Nazareth around past 1:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 29.
Police said an MK2 hand fragmentation grenade was found on the floor tiles inside the main gate of the lawmaker's residence. Luckily, it did not explode and no one was harmed.
The house guard said the perpetrators were allegedly onboard a motorcycle and threw the grenade prompting him to call for police assistance.
The police's Explosive Ordnance Division immediately conducted a render safe procedure. The SOCO also processed the scene to extract possible evidence.
In a statement, Rodriguez and his family "condemned in the strongest terms this act of violence perpetrated by unknown men."
"Lives were put at risk in the grenade attack at the ancestral residence of the Rodriguez family in Barangay Nazareth earlier today. The authorities are currently conducting the investigations, and justice will be served against all those responsible for the crime," Rodriguez family said.
"The Rodriguez family is safe and no one is harmed in the incident. Deputy Speaker Rufus Rodriguez and City Councilor Bebot Rodriguez will ensure that the services offered by their respective offices are unhampered even during these trying times," the family added.
