CAMIGUIN (PIA)--Responding to the increasing number of coronavirus disease (COVID)-19 cases in the province, Gov. Jurdin Jesus Romualdo said they will intensify the vaccination campaign by visiting barangays starting July 28, to monitor the rollout to A2 and A3 priority groups as well as they implemented localized lockdowns in affected areas.
"Magkampanya ta starting Wednesday. Unahon sa Mambajao kay 75% sa tanan pwede nang mabakunahan naa sa Mambajao (We will start the campaign on Wednesday. We will begin with Mambajao because 75% of the eligible population for vaccination is at Mambajao)," Romualdo said during the Serbisyong PPR radio program, July 23.
As of July 23, 9,488 were already inoculated with the first dose of COVID-19 vaccines and 4,779 for the second dose out of the 70,000 target individuals in Camiguin.
Romualdo urged the residents to avail the free vaccines of the government as well as to report any sign and symptom that the locals may experience.
“Responsible ko sa imo nga dili ka magkasakit pero kung magpabaya ka, wala ko’y mahimo. Kung wala ka nagsaba, di pa gyud ka magpa-vaccine, problemado gyud ka,” he added.
(I am responsible for you not to get sick but if you remain complacent, I can't do anything about it. If you will not report any signs or symptoms and if you do not to be vaccinated, you will really have a problem)
To further help the towns in containing the spread of the virus, Romualdo grants the requests of the local chief executives to impose moratorium on acceptance of locally stranded individuals (LSIs) except for returning overseas Filipinos (ROFs).
For Mambajao, a moratorium was requested for July 16-23, and July 31-August 15. Sagay on the other hand asked for a seven-day extension of the moratorium, July 21-27. Romualdo also endorsed the request of Catarman town for a moratorium of inbound travelers, August 1-15.
The province also granted the request of Guinsiliban for a moratorium on acceptance of LSIs, July 20-31.
For the localized lockdowns, Romualdo said Mambajao has placed Upper and Lower Pandan, Sitio Maslog, Sitio Iri, Balbagon, and Sitio Kauswagan, Agoho under localized lockdown, July 13-27.
Poblacion, Mambajao is also placed on focus containment, July 16-31.
Aside from the said efforts, the province regularly allocates about P2 million for the medicines and they also doubled the number of high flow oxygen units to aid those who are severely affected by the virus.
As of July 25, the province has recorded 84 COVID-19 confirmed cases of which 25 are from Mambajao, Mahinog (11), Guinsiliban (29), and Catarman (19). Three are availing the no quarantine policy.
From March 2020-present, there are 474 recoveries and 13 deaths due to COVID-19 in the province. There are 366 persons with history of travel or COVID-19 exposure of which 259 are from Mambajao, 51 from Mahinog, 6 from Guinsiliban, 3 from Sagay, and 47 from Catarman. (RTP/PIA-10)
