DOT Region 10 backs MisOr’s MOPADC
CLAVERIA,
MISAMIS ORIENTAL- The
Department of Tourism Region 10 supports the launching of the Misamis Oriental
Provincial Agriculture Development Complex (MOPADC) which is anticipated as a potential
Agritourism site in the Province of Misamis Oriental.
MOPADC
is a seven-hectare
facility with a total of 12 greenhouses dedicated to the research and
development of the coconut industry in the province. In his speech, Gov. Emano said "teach
a man how to farm and you will feed that man for a lifetime" as he lays out the plans
for the said facility
which includes a research/admin
building, training center, receiving and processing center for fruits and
vegetable produce, coconut processing center, area for packaging and processing
of products, seedling production, a nursery for fruit and vegetables, and
Macapuno Embryo Facility.
The
opening of this facility anticipates a potential Agritourism site that would
attract more visitors and would provide more employment opportunities
beneficial to the people of Claveria.
This agriculture facility is one
of Misamis Oriental Governor
Bambi Emano's initiatives in securing a long-term source of income for the
local farmers in Misamis Oriental
especially as agriculture plays a huge role in the goal to provide
long-term livelihood to the farmers, most especially in the middle of this
global health crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Chairperson of
the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Senator Cynthia A. Villar, gave her utmost
support through an online
Zoom Conference video.
